Chinese Cultural Learning Activities

1st July flag-raising ceremony
Grade Level: K1-K3
•   Through the 1st July flag-raising ceremony, children can experience the flag-raising ceremony and the etiquette and attitudes that should be observed during the flag-raising ceremony. In class, the teacher will introduce the country’s national flag, national anthem and national emblem to the children, and introduce 1st  July is Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Establishment Day.

Dragon Boat Festival Activity
Grade Level: K1-K3

•   Through Dragon Boat Festival activity, children can participate in making rice dumplings, experiencing dragon boat racing and making creative Dragon Boat Festival drawings to enhance their impression of the Dragon Boat Festival. In addition, teachers will also introduce the origin of the Dragon Boat Festival in class to enhance children’s understanding of traditional cultural customs of the festival.

Happy Lunar New Year Activity
Grade Level: K1-K3

•   By participating in the New Year stall games, children can learn about the origins, customs, names of different New Year foods and ancient gadgets of the Lunar New Year. During the activity, children had each a bag of ancient copper coins and learned to pay the coins to participate in activities, such as experiencing writing Fai Chun, playing Cuju, candy corner, etc., simulating the fun of walking in the flower market in an interesting way.

National Day Flag Raising Ceremony
Grade Level: K1-K3

•   Through the National Day flag-raising ceremony, children can learn the etiquette of singing the national anthem and raising the national flag. In class, the teacher will also introduce the date, national flag, national anthem and National Day celebration activities.

Happy Mid-Autumn Lantern Festival Party
Grade Level: K1-K3

•   Through the Mid-Autumn Festival Lantern Festival, children can learn about the Mid-Autumn Festival as a traditional Chinese festival, and introduce the origin, traditional food and celebration activities of the Mid-Autumn Festival. In the classroom, the teacher allows children to understand the Mid-Autumn Festival foods through manipulating real objects and multi-sensory learning. During the PE activities, children will also bring lanterns for the Mid-Autumn Festival lantern party and enjoy playing with the lanterns together.
